Patrick Shumrick BS, MHS, DPT

Owner/President

“The most rewarding part of my job is seeing our patients return to their prior level of independent activities.”

Dr. Shumrick has been practicing physical therapy since 1989.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy - Ohio University, Class President, Recipient of the Outstanding Service Award Class of 1989
  • Masters of Health Sciences - Krannert School of Physical Therapy, Indianapolis
  • Doctorate of Physical Therapy - Simmons College, Boston
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency treating dizziness and balance disorders - Emory University.

 

Because of his expertise in evaluating and treating patients suffering from dizziness and balance disorders, Dr. Shumrick is often asked to lecture to local and national professional groups on this subject. His extensive experience in this area is well-known and welcomed in Cincinnati and in the local medical community.

As a native Cincinnatian, he embraces the values of our community. He lives in Anderson with his wife and four children. His personal interests include chasing his four kids, sports, and family activities.

Angie Shumrick PT

Owner/Vice President

Angie Shumrick attended University of Cincinnati and graduated in 1997 (outstanding student award for the class in 1997). She continued her education in Vestibular Rehabilitation Assessment and Management (2008), Evaluation and Treatment of Dizziness and Balance Dysfunction in the Elderly suffering from Vestibular Deficits (2007), Treating Balance Impairment in the Neurological Population (2006), a clinically relevant approach to Vestibular Dysfunction (2006), Eval and Treatment of Complex Balance Disorders (2005). She enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, and playing the piano. The most rewarding part of her job is hearing patients tell her how she is helping them return to the things they enjoy the most!

Chris Dunaway PTA

Anderson Office 

Chris graduated from University of Cincinnati in 2011 with the degree Physical Therapist Assistant. He began working The Center for Balance December of 2011. In addition to Vestibular Rehabilitation, he has been trained in the McKenzie method for cervical and lumbar spinal pathology. In his free time, he enjoys time with his daughter, camping and hiking, playing volleyball and playing music.

Dr. Anne Deters DPT

Blue Ash Office

Anne graduated in 2014 from the University of Cincinnati with her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Anne attended Xavier University for her undergraduate degree with a major in Natural Sciences. There she played on the Women’s soccer team. Anne enjoys listening to patients and becoming an active teammate in achieving their goals. While not at work, Anne enjoys spending time with her two daughters, with family/friends, walking with her dog Shandy.

Trish Bachman PTA

Trish received a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Cincinnati and an Associate Degree from Sinclair Community College as a Physical Therapist Assistant. I find it very rewarding to help my patients regain their function so they can get back to enjoying their lives. I really like providing the specialized interventions provided at The Center For Balance and educating my patients on how to be proactive in maintaining their healthy function once they complete their treatment. In my free time I enjoy traveling with my husband, volunteering with a local animal rescue, and visiting with my adult children.

Julie Weingartner PTA

Julie received her PTA degree from Sinclair college, as well as being a licensed Massaged Therapist with 27 years of experience providing care for clients experiencing neuro-muscular, orthopedic conditions and injuries. Her gentle nature and care shines through everything she does, whether it's working with clients, raising her cats, stopping to pet any dog that crosses her path, or spending time with family and friends.   

 

Nathan Foster PTA

Anderson Office 

Nathan earned his degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant in 2011 from Pima Medical Institute in Denver, Colorado. Prior to his career in Physical Therapy, he was a Massage Therapist, Holistic Health Coach and Yoga Instructor. Nathan has long held a passion for helping people achieve their highest potential for wellness so they may live life to its fullest. Nathan has a strong manual therapy background and holds certifications in Cranio-sacral therapy, Myofascial Release and other therapeutic techniques that he uses to help people meet their therapy goals. When he’s not at work Nathan can be found hiking, biking and enjoying the outdoors usually with his around one of Cincinnati’s awesome parks.

Tim Dunaway PTA

 Tim graduated from The University of Cincinnati in the spring of 2018, joining our team that December. He has proven to be a valued member of our staff. He has an extensive martial arts background that began with his studies in tai chi starting approximately 12 years ago. In his free time he is an aspiring chef, and enjoys riding his bike or hiking in beautiful parks in and around Cincinnati
